The first album I ever received and the greatest selling album of all time (70 million sold!).
Like the rest of the world, I learned yesterday about the death of Michael Jackson. I was driving home and received a text from a friend asking if I’d heard. I hadn’t. As soon as I got home I turned on the TV and tried to absorb the news I was hearing. This morning I’m still numb, still crying and still in shock.
Anyone who knows me well enough knows I have always been a Michael Jackson fan. Many friends and my family contacted me to make sure I knew what happened. This year for my 27th birthday, my family threw for me was Michael Jackson themed. Posters of him were everywhere and his music played throughout the party. My love for his music and his talent spans back to my childhood years when my parents bought the actual Thriller record when I was born. I was a fan before I even knew it! I grew up dancing to his music in my living room, renting his videos to learn his moves, and eventually picking up his sister’s music also.
My heart goes out to his family and his three small children. I know his life was scattered with controversy, but I think anyone is fooling themselves if they can’t say he touched the world. He changed it actually. His music was a masterpiece and his performances will never be about to be matched.
I pray that his family can mourn in peace and the media gives them some sort of privacy, but unfortunately I highly doubt that will happen. Please send your prayers, thoughts, or whatever it is you do in their direction. They will need it.
Rest in peace Michael. You will be missed.
